Oh, I do love him. I was actually discussing this with the budget ladies last week. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the (Bush) Republicans chose SCHIP to draw the line on health care spending. I mean, I realize it's the first major health care-related reauthorization to come along in awhile, but did anyone really think that was going to work?
As I heard a MN legislator say recently: Government-sponsored insurance isn't pushing people out of the private market; the high cost of health care is pricing people out.
Denying children insurance limits access but doesn't increase quality or reduce price--which are the real issues goverments should tackle.
btw #2 - read in the paper today the dems (in an attempt to prove they really can screw up anything) might not be able to override the veto. unbelievably ridiculous.
